About Kady


Kady Abbott is a nationally certified, licensed counselor supervisor who has been in the field of mental health, addiction, criminal justice, legal trauma, and consultation for over 20 years. Kady began her career as a prevention specialist with at risk youth educating them in the areas of self-esteem, drug abuse and conflict resolution.  Kady went on to work with adults having substance use disorders and other addictions, and focused on adults who have severe mental illness in the criminal justice system.  In this complicated system, Kady has been able to help, advocate and counsel some of the most impaired individuals with addiction and mental illness. Kady Abbott works with individuals to enhance quality of life by using client strengths and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies.  She has done a great deal of work over the years with educating families on mental health and substance use disorders, and in understanding family systems and generational curses.  In addition to her private practice, Kady is the Clinical Director at a local alcohol and drug treatment program that specializes in co-occurring disorders. Kady is also a Domestic Violence Facilitator for female and male perpetrators, and has been an adjunct professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. 


Kady Abbott is currently a member of the Alabama Counseling Association (ALCA), the American Counseling Association (ACA), and the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill in Alabama (NAMI).
